Once again, there’s no official news today, but don’t worry. (Bane in The Dark Knight Rises “That comes later”). Let’s start with some leaks of Microsoft’s upcoming foldables, if you can technically call them that. If you remember last year, one of the main issues with the original Surface Duo was the outdated specs but, it looks like things are about to change for the better, sort of. We have a new benchmark that was leaked by Slash leaks, that shows off the alleged specs for the Surface Duo 2. According to the leaks, it’ll be powered by the Snapdragon 888, not the Plus, as well as 8 Gigs of RAM. The benchmark didn’t provide any details on storage but it did mention it was running Android 11, though we have heard that Microsoft is expected to update it to Android 12 once it becomes available. Last month we also got a video leaked on YouTube showing the updates to the design that include a triple camera array and a frosted glass back. Other than it looks identical to the previous model which means it’ll most likely be as fragile too. We don’t really have a date for the release yet but, I’m sure Panos will post a hands on as we get closer to the end of the year. I mean, he’s gotta show off his new executive position somehow
Let’s shift gears on to Samsung and their next release which isn’t really a flagship. As yes, we know that the Fan Edition for the Galaxy S20 was a success and multiple reports mention that Samsung wants to follow up on that, even if they’re struggling with the chip shortage. Well, we just got a ton of new leaks as of late, starting with last week when we got some HD renders from Evan Blass that showed the phone from every possible angle, showing the new design which resembles the regular Galaxy S21. Then a couple of days ago it showed up in the Google Play Console, confirming the specs which include a 6.4-inch display, the Snapdragon 888, 6 Gigs of RAM and a 4500 mAh battery. Now, we got a leak from the best possible source… Samsung… In Sammy’s typical fashion, their French website posted a page that advertises a YouTube Premium offer, and in the list of devices that support the offer, we can see the Galaxy S21 FE next to the S21 Ultra. This means that the Galaxy S21 FE will come with a 4 month subscription to YouTube Premium and it is happening after all, but rumors point to it being limited to certain regions. According to the leaks this phone could launch some time in October but with the European websites already leaking it, who knows it might come sooner than we expected. Don’t look at me funny, we don’t have it.
Let’s move on to the undisputed king of leaks, Google and the Pixel 6 Series. Even if the company pretty much announced the phone a few weeks ago, there’s still some details that weren’t mentioned and those have been getting leaked slowly, with today shedding some new light on two different reports. Starting with the 5G capabilities, we have a new information from Reuters where they’re claiming that Samsung will also be providing the 5G mmWave modems for the Pixel 6, and I mean it makes sense considering they’ll be manufacturing the Tensor chip as well. As for the second report, Google’s SVP posted a screenshot of what seems to be the Pixel 6’s display running Android 12 of course.. What’s interesting here is that there is a fingerprint reader icon in the middle of the screen. We know that Google has been reluctant to add an in-display fingerprint scanner as they went for facial recognition with the Pixel 4 and then moved back to the fingerprint reader at the back for the 5 Series but, it looks like they’re finally caving in. And since we were on the topic of 5G, yes the screenshot also shows that it is connected to 5G on Verizon.. So yeah, all we need now is an early review.
Finally, for the hottest news today, let’s talk about Apple and the iPhone 13 because, you know how hectic things get as we start getting closer to September. Today we have 3 different reports on different things we can expect in the next few weeks. Let’s kick things off with the name. Over the past year there’s been some speculation that it might be called iPhone 12S over the fact that it isn’t really a new design and we’re just getting some improvements on features we already had from the last generation. Now we have an image of a sticker tab that’s used to seal Apple products in their boxes that says, iPhone 13 along with the company’s typical Designed By Apple label. At the moment we don’t know if this image is 100% legit so let’s take it with a grain of salt but, it looks like iPhone 13 it is. And before we move on to the release date, let’s talk some features. According to a new report from Jon Prosser, Apple is testing some new Face ID technology for the iPhone 13 that would allow users to access their phones while using a mask and even if you have foggy glasses. Apparently they’re testing it by using this special case and putting it on an iPhone 12. Once the case is on, it bypasses the 12’s Face ID Array and it uses the external hardware which is allegedly the same one on the 13 Series. I know it’s kinda technical but the overall goal is to let you use Face ID even in more complicated conditions. Finally, let’s talk release dates. Chinese ETailer, IT Home has the iPhone 13 for pre-orders set for September 17th. And considering Apple usually has their events on Tuesday’s, it would mean Apple would announce the iPhone 13 either on September 7th or the 14th. On a report Prosser claims that invites will go out on the 7th, with the Event happening on the 14th, pre-orders will go live on the 17th for all iPhone models unlike last year, and they’ll be available in stores by the 24th. And he also mentions that the new AirPods are coming at this event.

Let’s kick the week off with some official news, starting with some new information on the products we got last week from Samsung. Oh and by the way, for those of you who want the deals, we’ve decided to just add them to the description to keep the video a little shorter. Last week at Unpacked we got two new foldables with a ton of improvements but, apparently there’s another improvement Samsung didn’t tell us about when it comes to the display… until today for some odd reason.. Sammy says that the Z Fold 3 uses a new Eco2 OLED display that brings a new laminated structure that’s able to reduce the light reflection from the OLED layer. With this new tech it doesn’t require a polarizing layer anymore, making the OLED panel slimmer and power efficient in the process, which can I just say, yes.. It’s probably why this Z Fold 3 has gotten slimmer. They’re claiming that this new panel is 25% more power efficient than previous generation OLED screens and it also allows for more light to pass through, and yes that’s what enables the Under Display Camera as well. Apparently the only drawback here is that it’s a little bit more complicated to manufacture, so it makes sense that they only decided to add it to their most expensive smartphone.. Even if the selfie camera isn’t the best, let’s hope this technology makes its way on to other smartphones because, we all love better battery life right?
Let’s shift gears on to Google and some new Pixel leaks because why not? If you remember, the latest leaks we got from Jon Prosser claimed that the Pixel 5a Series would launch on August 26th. Well, now we have a new leak from Android Police where they’re claiming that Google might announce this device tomorrow, August 17th… most likely by the time you watch this video. As a matter of fact they also shared some images of the components for the 5a that they got from some repair shops. The pictures show that we will in fact be getting the same design as the Pixel 4a with the frosted back, the dual camera array in the stove and the circular finger print scanner in the middle. Something that is changing is that we’ll reportedly be getting a much larger 4680 mAh battery, when compared to the 3800 mAh power pack we got with the 4a. Finally, we can also see that the headphone jack is still alive here but, the repair shops didn’t really share any images on what we can expect for the displays but they will most likely stay the same as last generation. Reports hint that Google will be using the Snapdragon 765G to power this phone, again, and it’ll be priced at 450 bucks. And due to shortages, it’ll also be exclusive in the United States and Japan like we’re expecting for the Pixel 6 Series. We’ll see what we get as, this is definitely one of Google’s weirdest releases to date.
Let’s move the spotlight back on to Samsung but, for products that we can expect until next year.. But don’t worry, I mean early next year.. We haven’t gotten much leaks for the S22 Series other than some details here and there for the camera but, nothing too conclusive yet. Now we have some major leaks from Ice Universe and Tron that reveal most of the specs for Sammy’s next flagship release. Starting with Ice Universe, on a new Weibo post he mentions that the S22 will bring a 6.06-inch display, and the S22+ a 6.55-inch, both LTPS FHD+ panels running at 120Hz. When it comes to the Ultra, that one will get a massive 6.81-inch LTPO display at QHD+ resolution and running at 120Hz. Moving on to the batteries, you can expect 3800 mAh on the regular S22, 4600 on the Plus and 5000 on the Ultra. Switching on to cameras, the S22 and S22+ will bring a 50MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra wide, and a 12MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom. Apparently the Ultra will retain the 108MP main shooter, it will also bring a 12MP ultra wide and a 12MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom and the 12MP periscope lens with 10x optical zoom. Ice also claims that the design will be a modified version of the Galaxy S21 Series so, there’s not much changing here. Tron actually posted these exact same leaks but then added that it will be powered by the Exynos 2200 with an AMD mRDNA GPU, or the Snapdragon 898 with an Adreno GPU. Finally, he also mentions that the RAM and storage specifications will be the same as what we currently get with the S21. Sadly these leaks don’t mention anything on whether we’ll be getting continuous zoom or not but if we’re starting this strong.. The next months will be interesting for S22 leaks.
Finally, for the hottest news today, let’s talk about Apple and what we can expect in the next couple of months from them, and I literally mean couple because it seems pretty packed. On Mark Gurman’s latest newsletter, he mentions that Apple is planning to hold multiple events this fall that include a pretty stacked line up. Mark claims that the first event will most likely happen in September for the iPhone 13 Series, the third generation AirPods with the updated design, the updated iPad mini and the Apple Watch Series 7. If you remember, last year we only got the Apple Watch and iPads at this event due to the pandemic so, it’s nice to see that we’re getting less delays this time around. Speaking of delays, Gurman claims that the highly anticipated M1X MacBook Pros will be available by the time the current 16-inch MacBook Pro will celebrate it’s second anniversary and, that one was updated in November 2019.. So, we’re not exactly sure on if this second event will happen in October or it will be a dedicated event for Macs in November like we got last year for the M1 MacBooks. And by the way, my 16-inch MacBook Pro is still for sale if anyone’s interested.. But hold it.. I have an After The Buzz coming soon. So just to recap very quickly, we can expect the new iPhones, Apple Watch and probably some iPads in September, and new MacBook Pros for November but Gurman did mention that the iPads might come out in the November Event as well… We’ll see how things evolve until then.

Let’s begin the month of August like we always do, with some deals, starting with this year’s flagships. Amazon currently has the OnePlus 9 Pro for 90 dollars off, leaving the 12 Gigs of RAM variant for 979, I know it’s still pretty crazy even with the added RAM. If you’re not a fan of the 9 Series, the regular OnePlus 8 is available for almost 300 bucks off, leaving the base tier for a cool 400. Since we’re gonna be talking about Pixels today, Woot has the Pixel 4 for half off its original price tag, so you can grab it for 389. Moving on to Sammy’s trade-in deals, if you’re one of the fans that wants the Galaxy Note to stay, you can get the Note 20 Ultra for as low as 600 dollars or the regular Note 20 for 449. The S21 Series is still getting the same treatment where you can get the regular model for 99 bucks, the Plus for 200 or the Ultra for 400, and of course you need an eligible device to trade-in for all of these. Moving back on to Amazon, the M1 Mac mini is getting a 100 dollar discount, so it starts at 799. Finally, Sony’s Mark 4 over the ear headphones are currently available for 72 bucks off, leaving them at 278. We have more deals on other Macs, more Samsung products and more in the links in the description.
And speaking of Macs, let’s move on to Apple and their Apple Silicon roadmap as we’re technically at the halfway point of their 2 year transition which was announced at last year’s WWDC. On Mark Gurman’s latest newsletter he mentions that Apple will barely hit that 2 year timeline they promised, and he’s actually counting as if it started in November with the release on the M1 MacBooks, giving Apple until November of next year to complete it. Gurman mentions that the M1X processors are still on track for release in the coming months, with a high end Mac Mini coming soon after that. If you remember this is the one we got renders for a while back with a more compact design. Moving on to next year, Gurman reiterates that he expects them to fully transition by the end of next year, with a revamped Mac Pro rocking Apple Silicon coming in the second half of the year. He also talks about that redesigned MacBook Air which apparently will bring MagSafe but, he simply states it’ll come some time in 2022. Finally, he also speaks on the final update to the Intel Mac Pro, which is rumored to bring an Intel Ice Lake Xeon processor but we don’t really have a date for that one. So just to recap, new MacBook Pros and a new Mac mini this year, 2 new Mac Pros, the new MacBook Air and the a complete transition into Apple Silicon by the end of next year.. We’ll see if they actually make the deadline with all of the delays going on.
Let’s switch on to Samsung and you guessed it, they’re Unpacked Event. The thing is, over the weekend we’ve gotten a ton of leaks on multiple products so, we’re going to be throwing all of these into this segment so bear with me here. Let’s start off with wearables, we have a new report from WinFuture that claims that the Galaxy Buds 2 will bring an IPX2 certification, up to 20 hours of play time with ANC but more importantly, they’ll be priced at 150 Euros. Now moving on to the Galaxy Watch 4, we have some new IRL images from 91 Mobiles that show off the new Watch 4 Classic. The design looks great as expected but, these also serve as our first “hands on” look of One UI Watch. We can’t see much from these images but, I mean it doesn’t look bad at all. Now moving on to the centerpiece of the event, let’s talk about foldables. Evan Blass is maintaining his title as the king of Unpacked this year as we get yet another batch of press renders of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 from every possible angle and with every color variant we’re expecting so yeah, there’s no secrets here any more. But to conclude, let’s go back to talking price tags! We have a couple of new tweets from a tipster that goes by the name of Snoopy, yes like the dog, where he reveals the price tags for Europe for both the Z Flip and the Z Fold. He claims that the Z Flip 3 will start at 1029 Euros while the maxed out variant will go up to 1109. When it comes to the Z Fold, that one will start at 2009 Euros for 256 Gigs of storage, and will go up to 2099 for the higher tier which brings double the storage. So the Z Flip is definitely getting cheaper but, it looks like the Z Fold is retaining its current price tag, we’ll see what happens next week.
Finally, for the hottest news today, let’s talk about the undisputed king of leaks. We’re looking at you Google. If you thought Samsung was good at leaking their own stuff, Google just gave them the biggest “hold my beer” moment we’ve seen yet. Earlier today the company took to Twitter and gave us a sneak peek at their upcoming Pixels and sort of announced their custom SoC. Starting with the obvious, yes there will be a regular Pixel 6 and a Pro variant this year. When it comes to the design, these confirm the renders we’ve been getting with the new camera module and they come in 3 different colorways for each variant. When it comes to the camera, the 6 Pro will bring a triple camera array that includes a telephoto with 4x optical zoom while the regular 6 will bring the same cameras but with no telephoto. Probably the hottest thing here is the new chip, Google Tensor. Yes, the leaks were right, this is a custom SoC and they’re claiming it can process their most powerful AI and ML models directly on the smartphone. Apparently we’ll be able to see a transformed experience for speech recognition, the camera and many other features. Sadly they can’t show any pictures at the moment, saying they’ll get back to us soon on that one. When it comes to the UI, Material You will be the best it can be on Pixels, as expected. And these new Pixels will also bring a ton of upgrades on Google features like Translation, Voice Commands and others. They concluded by saying that this is all they can share for now and that we’ll get them later this fall.. However, they’re already on the Google Store, showing off the specs but, there’s no price and of course you can’t purchase them yet.

Yes, the official news today begin with deals and to switch things up a little bit, we have some smartwatches for you guys. Starting with the first one you’re expecting on the list, the Apple Watch. If you want the Series 6, the RED variant is available for 134 dollars off, leaving the base model for 265 but, you can also get 69 dollar discounts on the other color variants if RED is not your thing. The Apple Watch SE is also getting a cool 30 dollar price drop, leaving the base model at 249. Moving on to the smartwatch I’m currently rocking, the Garmin Fenix 6 Sapphire is almost 56 bucks off, so you can get it for 744. I know pretty expensive but a Garmin is still a Garmin. Now, if you want something that’s a bit more mainstream and competes with a regular smartwatch, the Garmin Venu is also on sale with 85 bucks in savings, meaning you can get that one for just 265. Moving on to Samsung, the Galaxy Watch Active 2 is still 20 bucks off, leaving the base model at 250. To conclude with smartwatches the Galaxy Watch 3 is 50 dollars off ahead of Unpacked, so you can still get it for 430. And since we’re on the topic of Samsung, you can still reserve your device for Unpacked gaining some crazy perks while you’re at it. We have more deals on the S21 Series, Logitech and Razer peripherals and more in the links in the description.
Sticking to official news, let’s move the spotlight on to Microsoft and Windows 11. It’s been over a month since the company announced their next major upgrade and now, they just released the first Windows 11 Preview for the public to test the beta. If you’d seen any screenshots of it running before, it was only available for Developer’s but now you can get it by signing up for their Insider Program. Of course, the requirements have not changed and you need to own a Windows 11 compatible computer, of course we have the hardware requirements in the link in the description if you’re interested. And keep in mind that this is a beta so it might not be too stable so make sure to back everything up. Whenever you download a new version of Windows it usually requires a complete OS reinstall but, according to the Windows Insider twitter, this one is possible to do in a short period of time by doing a quick restart, but you should still double check the steps before you do. So yeah, I’m definitely gonna put it on my Galaxy Book Pro 360 but, so far so good from everyone I’ve seen on Twitter, let us know if you’re getting the beta.
But alright, let’s shift gears on to Sammy for the first time today and this time we’ll be talking about the smaller foldable which hasn’t gotten as much love from leakers just yet, the Z Flip. Starting with some certifications, the Z Flip 3 just went through the 3C database and really, the only thing we can get from here is that it’ll be capable of 25W charging which is definitely better than the 15W we had heard before but, the charger probably doesn’t come in the box so you’ll have to buy the outlet anyways. Moving on to some more interesting rumors, we have some new exclusive case renders from 91Mobiles that show the new design and some very interesting functionality. These cases further confirm the two tone design but, they also bring a strap and a ring attachment, kind of like those old belt clips that I most definitely used back in the day but, I’m not entirely sure on how this ones will work, it kinda looks like a keychain. But, it’s actually pretty cool considering that the phone collapses to become so small that it’s not really a burden in your pocket, belt or backpack. And yes, the phone still looks very good. And since we haven’t talked much about the Z Flip, we’re expecting it to be powered by the Snapdragon 888 5G, we’re not sure on if it’s the Plus, 8 gigs of RAM and 128 Gigs of internal storage. We’re also reportedly not getting crease on the main display thanks to the new UTG. We’ll see what happens at Unpacked as we’re just a few days away.
Finally, for the hottest news today, let’s keep talking Samsung but, not for the reasons you’d think, at all… I mean yes we’re closer to the event but it looks like there’s a significant group of fans that’s not happy with Samsung’s new strategy. Cause yes, apparently fans are so upset that Samsung is skipping a Note this year. So much so that they have started a Change.org petition where they’re basically asking Samsung to skip the Galaxy S22 release in the first half of next year, and launch a new Galaxy Note instead. They’re even giving Samsung the idea of keeping all of their flagship line ups alive by alternating between them and that way they get to keep fans of every line up happy at the same time. At the time of Diego writing this script the petition had 11 thousand people signed up. And here’s the thing, I feel that it’s very interesting that even with some of the key features in the Note Series like the S Pen making their way to other line ups like the S21 or the Z Fold 3. However, people still want a squared off, S-Pen integrated Galaxy Note. Let’s be real, that phone looked hot! We’ll see if Samsung decides to acknowledge that this is going on at least through a statement or something because, I’ve been checking and the signatures haven’t stopped.

Once again, the official news today begin with deals and if you’re looking for a laptop, it’s your lucky day. Starting with the Razer Book 13 which is 170 dollars off, that means you can get the Intel Core i7 variant for 1430. If gaming is your thing, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus Ultra Slim laptop is getting a 276 dollar discount, and you actually get some very nice specs for 1592, but just keep in mind the GPU is a bit outdated. Samsung’s 15-inch Galaxy Book Pro is also 150 dollars off, so the base model is available for 950 bucks. To conclude with laptops, yes the MacBook Pro still has a 200 dollar price drop, leaving the base model for 1099. For those of you on the market for a smart speaker, the Google Nest Mini is available in a 3 pack for 64 bucks, saving you 83 dollars in the process. Finally, the Amazon Echo Buds are also 30 dollars off, leaving them for 110 but you can save an extra 25 percent if you trade others in. We have more deals on LG Monitors and Earbuds and you can still reserve your devices for Samsung’s Unpacked in the first link in the description to get some crazy good perks.
Let’s stick to official news for a second and this time, we’ll be talking about Nothing. And no, this is not a terrible pun from Diego. I’m talking about Carl Pei’s company as they finally launched their first product after months of teasers. These true wireless earbuds are called the ear (1)s and they bring a pretty interesting transparent design that actually looks pretty cool. Each earbud weighs 4.7 grams and they come with a soft silicone tip for a better seal. Both earbuds bring a 31 mAh battery that can last up to 4 hours of ANC playtime or 6 hours without ANC. However, the charging case gives you an extra 24 hours with ANC on or 34 hours if you decide to switch it off, a 10 minute charge will give you one hour of extra play time. They offer Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity, different levels of ANC and Google Fast Pair Support. They are priced at either 99 Dollars, Euros or Pounds and are currently available for pre-orders at Nothing’s Website. I mean they look pretty cool and have a very competitive price tag, let’s see how good they sound..
And speaking of Carl Pei, how about if we talk about his previous company. OnePlus at this point is usually gearing up for whatever T series we usually get, right? Well, on a new tweet from Max Jambor, in his typical fashion he simply states “No 9T“. And, this doesn’t really come as a surprise as last month, a leak on Weibo claimed that OnePlus would scrap the 9T Pro, like they did last year where we only got the regular 8T and no upgrade for the Pro. Now, if you’re a fan of the T variants and are wondering why the company would skip it this year, even though we don’t have any official information, it kinda makes some sense. For starters, we’re still going through a global chip shortage which has affected almost every company’s release dates. On top of that, OnePlus recently announced that they would be further integrating their brand within OPPO so that could be another reason. And to top it off, apparently OnePlus found some great success with the 9 Series as they were the fastest growing OEM in the US for the first half of the year with a crazy 428% Year over Year growth, with the closest company being Motorola with 83%. So poor sales are definitely not one of those reasons, but we’ll keep an eye out on any updates since we still have time for Q4.
Now, how about if we switch to the product I really want Apple to release – that new iPad mini. Rumors have been ramping up over the past week or so and now we get some sort of confirmation for previous report. See, a Ming Chi Kuo report from back in May mentioned an 8.5 to 9-inch iPad mini and now, a new tweet from Ross Young mentions that the iPad mini will bring an 8.3-inch display. He explains in another tweet that it’s growing from 7.9-inches due to the slimmer bezels and the removal of the home button. There was a couple of mixed reports saying that the home button was staying but, now multiple trusted sources agree that Apple is going for more of an iPad Air-esque approach with the boxy design, slim bezels and Touch ID in the power button. Other leaks mention that this iPad mini would be powered by the A14 or even the A15 chip, it’ll now bring a USB-C port instead of a lightning port and a smart connector. It might also bring a mini-LED display but with recent shortages we doubt that it’ll make the cut and Ross Young didn’t provide any details on that front. Apparently we can expect it to launch some time in Q4 or with the iPhones in the September Event, let’s see what happens.
And finally, for the hottest news today, let’s talk about Samsung once again as things are getting very interesting ahead of their event. On a new blog post, the company’s head of mobile addressed a bunch of things we’ve been questioning this year and even set some expectations for what we can expect on August 11th. On the statement he pretty much confirms a lot of the rumors. It starts with him saying that they are out to set new heights and open up a new world of exciting experiences for people.. He says he hopes we join him to debut their next Galaxy Z Family which brings some foldable surprises, including the first ever S-Pen designed specifically for foldables. He then went on to confirm that there is no Galaxy Note this year, as they will broaden beloved Note features to more Galaxy Devices, and in the meantime we should set our calendars to see what the future holds. Yesterday we saw some renders for that S Pen as well as the case that’ll be used to hold it on the Z Fold, and if you think of it, the idea of not being limited to get note features on just one device or a batch makes sense. You should be able to pick the form factor you want, and get the full experience regardless. They also leave some pretty high expectations which are also backed up by that IPX8 certification leak we got from Evan Blass yesterday, which finally allows for us to use foldables more freely as a tool.

Alright, let’s end the week like we always do, with deals and today we’ll actually start with Samsung’s reservation deals for whatever it’ll unfold at unpacked. Follow the first link in the description as the perks are pretty crazy. Moving on to some gaming options, Best Buy currently has the Nintendo Switch Lite for it’s regular 200 bucks but, it comes with a free 128 Gigs memory card which is valued at 68 bucks so, it’s a pretty solid thing to consider. If you move on to Amazon, they have the regular Switch in a pretty neat bundle with case, earbuds and protectors galore for $350. If you’re looking for some true wireless earbuds, the AirPods Pro are getting a 59 dollar discount, leaving those at 190. If you want a cheaper pair, the Galaxy Buds Plus are 50 dollars off, leaving those at 99 dollars. Sticking to wearables, the Apple Watch Series 6 is also getting a 110 dollar price drop if you go stainless steel and Milanese loop, leaving it at 640. Finally, Samsung’s trade-in deals are still here believe it or not, which means you can still grab the Galaxy S21 Ultra for just 400 bucks, the S21+ for 200, or the regular S21 for as low as 100 dollars if you have an eligible device for trade-in. We have more deals on the AirPods Max, other smartwatches and more in the links in the description.
Let’s stick to official news but move the spotlight on to OnePlus as yes, after weeks of teasers the company finally unveiled the Nord 2 and the OnePlus Buds Pro a couple of days ago. As expected, it brings a 6.43-inch Fluid AMOLED display running at 90Hz. It is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 1200 5G SoC, up to 12 Gigs of RAM and 256 Gigs of Storage. It also brings a 4500 mAh battery that supports 65W Warp Charing and runs Android 11 out of the box. When it comes to the cameras, you get a 50MP primary shooter, an 8MP ultra wide and my personal favorite, a 2MP macro. Now, moving on to the Buds Pro, these apparently feature smart noise reduction which is actually ANC, extended battery performance and a truly immersive premium audio experience according to OnePlus. They’re promising up to 38 hours of battery life with the charging case and they’ll give you 10 hours of play time in a 10 minute charge. They come in 2 color variants being Black and White and start at 150 dollars in the US and Canada. Speaking of price tags, the Nord will be available for 399 Euros but, it’ll only be available in Europe and India next week. Wish we were getting it in this side of the pond because it sounds compelling.
And since we’re on the topic of wearables, let’s shift gears (like a Watch) on to Google and WearOS. And you can blame Diego for the puns? Back at Google I/O we got the announcement that the company would be collaborating with Samsung in order to make WearOS better but, they left us with a ton of questions. Later on, Samsung held their own event and even with the teaser they showed, they left us with more questions.. One of those being, will old watches support the new update? Well, now we have an official response from Google, where one of their Community Managers explains how the transition will work on a Google Help tab. For starters, they’re calling the new platform “WearOS 3” where they will bring new experiences but will limit others. They also released a list of Watches that will support it which includes the Mobvoi Tic Watch Pro 3 in both of its variants, and the Tic Watch 3. That’s it… However, it does say that future Tic Watches and Fossil’s 6th Generation of devices which is launching this year will support it. If you own any of these watches apparently Google expects these partners to roll out the updated in mid 2022 which is a crazy wait for something announced back in May. We do know that Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Watch 4 will support the platform though, through One UI Watch, but it looks like the current line up of products is VERY limited unless they update that list or, Google launches their own Watch… We’ll see.
And finally, for the hottest news today let’s talk about Apple and a ton of products that the company has in the pipeline, or so we think. Starting with a very interesting new product that we’re gonna call a Smart Display. Remember the rumors of an actual Apple TV? Well let’s just say they figured out a smarter idea. A new report from 9to5Mac mentions that Cupertino is working on a new display that has a dedicated A13 chip as well as a Neural engine. If you remember, back when the Thunderbolt display was discontinued, rumors suggested that Apple was working on a replacement with a built-in GPU and this might be it. I mean, this would allow the display to serve as an eGPU that could allow your M1-capable Mac to deliver more power and high-res graphics at the same time as you’re technically getting more cores. Also, wouldn’t that chip enable it to be an Apple TV as well? We’ll see as we have no dates for the product. Now, speaking of eGPUs and Macs, if you were holding off on getting the M1 MacBook Air over a possible refresh, don’t. A new research note from Ming Chi Kuo suggests that this new laptop is coming, it does bring a miniLED display, but it’s about a year away in the second half of 2022. And yes, he claims better display quality, and also new tricks like the MagSafe technology we’ve heard for the Pros this year. Speaking of things that are set to arrive later this year, let’s talk AirPods… We have a new report from DigiTimes claiming that production for the will start in August, but as for what you care about, the launch will happen with iPhone 13 in an event that will happen in September as Apple’s launch schedule gets back to normal when compared to last year. And finally, speaking on things we might not have to wait so much for, let’s move on to the iPad mini with some conflicting reports. Everyone agrees on Touch ID on the power button and USB-C. The problem is we have DigiTimes saying that we’re getting mini LED, and Ross Young saying we won’t, and if the 11-inch iPad Pro is any indication, I’m gonna bet my money on Ross’ report.

The official news today begin with deals, and let me just say, no one does deals like Samsung.. I mean, their trade-in deals are still going on for every device you can think off. Starting with the S21 Series, you can still get the S21 5G for as low as 99 bucks, the S21+ for 200 or the S21 Ultra for 400 dollars. And hey, if you’re looking for a foldable the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is still available for as low as 900 dollars but, you need to have an eligible device to trade-in for all of these devices. If you’re into really expensive headphones, the AirPods Max just hit a new low. Again. With an 83 dollar discount, leaving them at 465 bucks. At this pace, why not $350 and call it a day Apple. Anyways, If regularly priced headphones are your jam, the Jabra Elite 85hs are still some of my favorites, they are water resistant and 100 bucks off, meaning you can get them for 150 dollars. Now that is a good buy. Finally, the Nokia 8.3 5G is 200 dollars, so you can grab it for 400 bucks. We have more deals on Blue Yeti mics, other Samsung phones and more in the links in the description.
For the first time in a minute, let’s switch focus on to Huawei and hold it cause this is good news for anyone that’s not in China. The company clearly seems to be having a hard time releasing the P50 Series this year. We all know that these haven’t been the best past couple of years for them after they got banned from the US, and to add on top of that, we’re also going through a global chip shortage which is why they’re not able to produce enough of their Kirin 9000 chips any more. Well, according to a new report from GSM Arena, Huawei may resort to using Qualcomm chips for the P50 Series after all. And I know what you’re thinking, with the trade ban how would Qualcomm supply these chips for Huawei but it turns out there’s a loophole here. Huawei is banned from using 5G technology from companies like Qualcomm, which they actually helped develop but, they’re still able to use the LTE variant of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888, at least for the regular P50 model. Apparently they do have enough Kirin 9000 chips for the Pro model to last until December but after that they would have to resort on to using 4G Qualcomm chips. We can reportedly expect the P50 Series in August with an interesting design but, let’s see how they pull this off. Thing is, with Honor doing Google Apps and Snapdragon phones, maybe this is the first step into Huawei making a comeback. We’ll see.
But alright, how about if we switch into the unexpected by talking about Steam.. After months of speculation the company took to Twitter to announce that they will be launching the Steam Deck. They’re describing it as “powerful, portable PC Gaming that starts at 399.” It is designed by Valve and powered by Steam and it’ll start shipping this December. Apparently we’re getting three different tiers that go based on storage, with the first one getting 64 Gigs of eMMC storage but then the other 2 tiers bring up to 512 Gigs of NVMe SSD. I know, it’s as if they really don’t want you to go 64 gigs cause the speed differences are major, though yes, you can use an SD card. Their website claims that the Deck brings Steam Games and features to a powerful and convenient form factor which actually consists of a 7-inch touch screen, multiple trackpads, and gyro controls. Valve is partnering with AMD for a custom APU to optimize the Deck for handheld gaming but, you can dock it like the Switch, allowing for more power, external displays and USB peripherals. Now, the website isn’t too explicit on whether these games are being streamed but, it mentions that it runs the latest triple A games and actually does it pretty well with no difference in frame rates or performance between the 3 tiers.. Again, you can expect it in December starting on 399 and, let’s hope it can disrupt like the Switch in a less of a walled garden.
But guess what, we get to continue with the unexpected. Let’s stick to even more official news and talk about Windows once again which isn’t too common for this show. See, Microsoft just had their Inspire live event where they just announced Windows 365, which is the company’s first subscription-based Windows operating system. If you’re confused on how it works, think of Google Stadia where it you can “stream your games” with the only requirements being a subscription and a stable internet connection.. Well, Windows 365 let’s you pretty much stream Windows through a stable connection, letting you get the full Windows experience that can also be customized like a PC. Users can choose how much storage and memory they’ll get on their Cloud PC and will be able to configure it any way they want with the max storage being half a terabyte, and up to 16 Gigs of RAM. The good thing here is that it can run on any device through a browser, giving you an “instant-on boot experience” with a full Windows Experience. So, just think about the idea of getting real work done on your iPad during the day, but then having it become your media device for the rest of it. Microsoft is also saying that the stored data goes through their network and will be encrypted by default.. Windows 365 will be available in August 2nd according to their website, allowing users to enjoy Windows 10 or 11, but there’s a catch. For the most basic 4 gigs of RAM and 128 gigs of storage you have to pay $31 a month. Like oh man.. All was going well. Good luck Microsoft.
Finally, for the hottest news today, let’s go back to talking about Google and their Pixel devices but this time, we won’t be discussing the Google Pixel 6. As yes, foldables are becoming more and more mainstream and it seems like Google doesn’t want to stay behind on this realm. I mean, we even saw how the company has taken Android to support it seriously ever since the previous Google I/O. Well, according to a new report from the Elec, Samsung’s Ultra Thin Glass will finally be available for wide-spread use in the second half of 2021, meaning we should be getting more information on upcoming foldables from companies like OPPO, Vivo and Google. Speaking of those upcoming foldables, previous rumors suggested that at least one of these will be Google’s Passport. And actually, the report doesn’t give too much information on it but, it reveals that the Google Pixel Fold, aka Passport, could arrive with a 7.6-inch display and that also matches the information we’ve gotten with previous reports. Other leaked documents from Google that surfaced back in August of last year claimed that Google plans to release this foldable in Q4 of 2021 and the fact that Samsung is ready to ship these displays just adds some more confirmation to the matter. We don’t have much information on the Pixel Fold yet other than the display size, but even if there are no design leaks, with Google being the one that actually enables the software for foldables.

Of course, the official news today begin with some fresh deals. Starting with Apple’s M1 iPad Pro which is 50 dollars off on Amazon, meaning it starts at 750 bucks for the 11-inch variant. The latest iPad Air is now getting a 60 dollar discount, so you can get it for 539 bucks. If you’re into really expensive headphones for some reason, Cupertino’s AirPods Max are now getting a much needed 72 dollar discount, leaving those at 478 and by the way I think this is their all-time low. If you want True Wireless Earbuds, the Galaxy Buds+ are 10 bucks off, leaving them at 83 in Cosmic Black. If you want a Smart Speaker, Amazon currently has a bundle where you get the latest Echo Dot along with a 4-Pack of Tile Mates for 80 dollars, meaning you save 40 dollars in the process. Finally, the Galaxy S21+ continues to be a great deal at 200 dollars off, leaving it at 799. We have more deals on other iPads, Sony headphones and more, in the links in the description.
Let’s shift focus on to Cupertino for the first time today, particularly when it comes to the upcoming M1X MacBook Pros. We have a new report from Ming Chi Kuo and MacRumors that claim that the new MacBook Pros are getting ready for mass production and will come with new mini-LED displays. The report mentions that, even if the production will run from July through September, Apple might hold a separate event dedicated for these Macs instead of launching them with the new iPhones in September.. Some time around October or November. On a quick, separate note, a tipster named Dylan also claims that the new MacBook Pros will be getting an improved 1080p webcam for the next model. Finally. Moving back to mass production, Kuo’s report claims that due mini-LED shortage issues are what have caused delays so far and might still create more issues whenever they get launched, which means they’ll probably roll out like the M1 iPad Pro did earlier this year where it started shipping much later. These new MacBook Pros are expected to bring some updated Apple Silicon, a ton of ports and that new mini-LED display, let’s see how it goes.
Let’s keep talking Apple and redesigned products but move on to some iPads that I’m really expecting. As yes, along with these MacBook Pros, we’re also expecting Apple to release a redesigned iPad mini 6. We have a new report from Bloomberg and Mark Gurman, he mentions that the new iPad mini is a “go for this fall” suggesting that it could be announced with the new iPhones or on that event that would happen later dedicated for the new MacBook Pros. This new iPad mini is reportedly bringing an 8.4-inch display and according to Jon Prosser, we can expect a flat design like we get with the new iPad Air, though we don’t know if this will be considered a “Pro” variant of the iPad mini, with the leaked color variants claiming we’re only getting Space Grey, Gold and Silver. Prosser mentions that we can expect the A14 powering the show, along with the same Touch ID sensor on the power button we get on the iPad Air and a USB-C port which is very interesting for an iPad mini. So yeah, we can expect these some time in the fall, hopefully with no delays because I’ve been waiting on this one for years.
Moving on, let’s talk about Samsung and their upcoming Galaxy Unpacked. So far we’ve gotten a ton of leaks for this year’s Unpacked where, we’re expecting the new Z Fold 3, Z Flip 3, Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Buds 2. Well, today we’re gonna be focusing on the Z Fold 3 as it just went through a new TENAA certification, confirming most of the leaked specs. According to the listing, the Z Fold 3 will be 6.4mm thick when unfolded, and it’ll have a much improved hinge design, which will actually remove the air gap between both sides of the device, resulting in the thinner device but, the foot print is expected to remain the same as the Z Fold 2 ,which isn’t too bad. When it comes to the display and battery, the listing mentions a 6.2-inch cover display and a 4500 mAh battery, running on Android 11. The certification also confirms that this foldable will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888, 12 Gigs of RAM and it’ll bring a triple camera setup that includes an ultra wide camera with autofocus along with the Under Panel Selfie Camera for the main display. Apparently the Z Flip 3 also went through a TENAA certification but, there was no information listed on any of the specs we just mentioned for the Z Fold. So yeah, these all sound great to me, especially with that leaked lower price tag. Let’s wait for August 11th.
Finally, for the hottest news today.. yes, let’s talk about those Google Pixel 6 leaks from late last week because, why not? Back in May we got our first look at the 6 Series thanks to some renders from Jon Prosser and now, he’s back at it again with a full list of specs. Starting with the regular Pixel 6, it’ll reportedly pack a 6.4-inch AMOLED display, it’ll be powered by Google’s Whitechapel SoC, 8 Gigs of RAM and up to 256 Gigs of storage along with a 4614 mAh battery. On the cameras you can expect a 50MP main sensor along with a 12MP ultra wide. Now, when it comes to the Pixel 6 Pro, this one has a 6.71-inch OLED display, it’ll be powered by the same Whitechapel chip but this one brings a crazy 12 Gigs of RAM, half a terabyte of storage and a 5000 mAh battery. On this camera department you’re getting a triple array, with a 50MP main sensor, a 48MP telephoto and a 12MP ultra wide camera. Both of the models will include 5G, Wi-Fi 6E support and will obviously run Android 12 out of the box. Now, what’s interesting here is that Prosser claims that Google is committed to at least 5 years of software updates for both of this devices which makes all the sense in the world considering this is Google but also because, come on Apple is supporting the iPhone 6s pretty much 6 years later. Now, we don’t know if this means 3 years of real updates and 2 years of security patches so I guess we’ll have to wait until the event actually happens to know the exact details. We’re expecting the Pixel 6 Series to come out some time in October
