With Apple’s iPhone 13, Samsung Galaxy S21, and the OnePlus 9 already out in the market, everyone’s attention has turned towards the Google Pixel 6 series. Google is reportedly hosting an event in October to announce the much-awaited Android device. XDA-Developers’ Mishaal Rahman was quick enough to spot a now-deleted CNET article that talked about Google’s next event being on October 5. However, the company has no plans of launching Pixel 6 on October 5 as the event will be focused on Nest, Travel, and Map products, according to Rahman.
According to the CNET article, Google will announce new smart speakers and security devices on October 5 and we might also get to hear about the changes coming to Google Maps and Google Flights. The news article makes it clear that Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are not on the October 5 event’s agenda.
Interestingly, Rahman has also spotted a snipped of code that suggests that Google Pixel 6 will go on sale on October 27th. A Google Camera code change has suggested the sale date. He says that “A 10/19 launch followed by a 10/27 release seems plausible.”
The release_date string is empty on my other Pixel phones.
Seems like Google wants to really push users to update to some new version of GCam they’re releasing on the day the Pixel 6 series releases. And if this is correct, then that release date is October 27th.
Up until now, pretty much everything about the Google Pixel 6 series has leaked. The smartphone’s camera specs, benchmark, CPU configuration, variable refresh rate, wireless charging speed, and even the fabric cases have all appeared. Even a hands-on video has surfaced on the web. It’s only a matter of days before Google officially launches the much-awaited Pixel 6 series. Are you looking to picking up Google Pixel 6 this fall? What are your expectations from the product? Let us know in the comments section below!

It is clear that tons of Google fans are excited about the Google Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro launch. These devices have indeed managed to shock the tech world with a revolutionary design that makes them stand out in a sea of squared slabs. However, there’s still time between now and the launch of the Pixel 6 series, which means that the company has enough time to get prepared.
It seems that Google is sure that its new Pixel series will be a success in sales. Recent information claims that the company has decided to boost Pixel 6 production. According to Nikkei Asia, Google has asked suppliers to prepare 50 percent more production capacity for the Google Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro. This may not seem like much, but it could match production demands for the Pixel devices in 2019.
For context, 2019 still holds the best sales numbers for Pixel devices. Google reported selling 7.2 million units, and even though we didn’t get individual device sales numbers, some claim that the Pixel 3a mostly achieved them. Then in 2020, sales numbers dropped under the 4 million mark, but we have the ongoing pandemic to thank for that.
You can think of many reasons why the Google Pixel 6 series will excel in sales, but it seems that Google feels like the leading cause that will boost Pixel 6 sales is being the only Android smartphone maker in the United States.
“Google told several suppliers in recent meetings that it sees potential for massive growth opportunities in the global market because it is the only U.S. smartphone maker building handsets using the Android operating system.”
If Google is correct, and U.S. customers end up going for a US-made smartphone, then the new Google Pixel 6 series and the latest Pixel 5a 5G could manage to sell over 10 million devices. But now, we will have to wait and see how these new devices go against the new Galaxy Z foldables and the new and improved iPhone 13 lineup.

Once again, there’s no official news today, but don’t worry. (Bane in The Dark Knight Rises “That comes later”). Let’s start with some leaks of Microsoft’s upcoming foldables, if you can technically call them that. If you remember last year, one of the main issues with the original Surface Duo was the outdated specs but, it looks like things are about to change for the better, sort of. We have a new benchmark that was leaked by Slash leaks, that shows off the alleged specs for the Surface Duo 2. According to the leaks, it’ll be powered by the Snapdragon 888, not the Plus, as well as 8 Gigs of RAM. The benchmark didn’t provide any details on storage but it did mention it was running Android 11, though we have heard that Microsoft is expected to update it to Android 12 once it becomes available. Last month we also got a video leaked on YouTube showing the updates to the design that include a triple camera array and a frosted glass back. Other than it looks identical to the previous model which means it’ll most likely be as fragile too. We don’t really have a date for the release yet but, I’m sure Panos will post a hands on as we get closer to the end of the year. I mean, he’s gotta show off his new executive position somehow
Let’s shift gears on to Samsung and their next release which isn’t really a flagship. As yes, we know that the Fan Edition for the Galaxy S20 was a success and multiple reports mention that Samsung wants to follow up on that, even if they’re struggling with the chip shortage. Well, we just got a ton of new leaks as of late, starting with last week when we got some HD renders from Evan Blass that showed the phone from every possible angle, showing the new design which resembles the regular Galaxy S21. Then a couple of days ago it showed up in the Google Play Console, confirming the specs which include a 6.4-inch display, the Snapdragon 888, 6 Gigs of RAM and a 4500 mAh battery. Now, we got a leak from the best possible source… Samsung… In Sammy’s typical fashion, their French website posted a page that advertises a YouTube Premium offer, and in the list of devices that support the offer, we can see the Galaxy S21 FE next to the S21 Ultra. This means that the Galaxy S21 FE will come with a 4 month subscription to YouTube Premium and it is happening after all, but rumors point to it being limited to certain regions. According to the leaks this phone could launch some time in October but with the European websites already leaking it, who knows it might come sooner than we expected. Don’t look at me funny, we don’t have it.
Let’s move on to the undisputed king of leaks, Google and the Pixel 6 Series. Even if the company pretty much announced the phone a few weeks ago, there’s still some details that weren’t mentioned and those have been getting leaked slowly, with today shedding some new light on two different reports. Starting with the 5G capabilities, we have a new information from Reuters where they’re claiming that Samsung will also be providing the 5G mmWave modems for the Pixel 6, and I mean it makes sense considering they’ll be manufacturing the Tensor chip as well. As for the second report, Google’s SVP posted a screenshot of what seems to be the Pixel 6’s display running Android 12 of course.. What’s interesting here is that there is a fingerprint reader icon in the middle of the screen. We know that Google has been reluctant to add an in-display fingerprint scanner as they went for facial recognition with the Pixel 4 and then moved back to the fingerprint reader at the back for the 5 Series but, it looks like they’re finally caving in. And since we were on the topic of 5G, yes the screenshot also shows that it is connected to 5G on Verizon.. So yeah, all we need now is an early review.
Finally, for the hottest news today, let’s talk about Apple and the iPhone 13 because, you know how hectic things get as we start getting closer to September. Today we have 3 different reports on different things we can expect in the next few weeks. Let’s kick things off with the name. Over the past year there’s been some speculation that it might be called iPhone 12S over the fact that it isn’t really a new design and we’re just getting some improvements on features we already had from the last generation. Now we have an image of a sticker tab that’s used to seal Apple products in their boxes that says, iPhone 13 along with the company’s typical Designed By Apple label. At the moment we don’t know if this image is 100% legit so let’s take it with a grain of salt but, it looks like iPhone 13 it is. And before we move on to the release date, let’s talk some features. According to a new report from Jon Prosser, Apple is testing some new Face ID technology for the iPhone 13 that would allow users to access their phones while using a mask and even if you have foggy glasses. Apparently they’re testing it by using this special case and putting it on an iPhone 12. Once the case is on, it bypasses the 12’s Face ID Array and it uses the external hardware which is allegedly the same one on the 13 Series. I know it’s kinda technical but the overall goal is to let you use Face ID even in more complicated conditions. Finally, let’s talk release dates. Chinese ETailer, IT Home has the iPhone 13 for pre-orders set for September 17th. And considering Apple usually has their events on Tuesday’s, it would mean Apple would announce the iPhone 13 either on September 7th or the 14th. On a report Prosser claims that invites will go out on the 7th, with the Event happening on the 14th, pre-orders will go live on the 17th for all iPhone models unlike last year, and they’ll be available in stores by the 24th. And he also mentions that the new AirPods are coming at this event.

We keep receiving more information about the upcoming Google Pixel 6 series. The latest rumors suggest that we are going to get improved charging speeds and even a new Google Pixel Stand.
Google Pixel devices have been limited to 18-watt charging speeds for quite a while now. But it seems that things are about to change as the guys from 91mobiles suggest that we could get a significant boost in wired charging speeds. Their source, Indian leaker Yogesh Brar claims that the new Google Pixel 6 series could support up to 33W charging, which almost doubles the current charging speeds in most Pixel devices.
Further, Brar says that his sources at Google have seen several 33W power adapters at the company’s Mountain View headquarters. These charging bricks have been allegedly used for testing purposes, but they’ve also been sent back to their suppliers since they will not be included in the box of the new Google Pixel 6 or the Pixel 6 Pro.
Now, this information also suggests that we will get more charging solutions from Google that may be purchased separately later, starting with a 33W fast charging brick and a new version of the Google Pixel Stand that may also be launched with the new Google Pixel 6 series. Furthermore, this new Pixel Stand is rumored to come with built-in fans, which makes us believe that it could be able to deliver more power, which translates to faster wireless charging speeds.
91mobiles also mentions that we may have to wait a bit longer to see the arrival of the new foldable device from Google, as Yogesh Brar tells us that the Pixel Fold, or whatever it’s going to be called, has been delayed. He doesn’t hint at an exact launch time window for the new foldable device, but he believes that we may get a preview of this foldable phone during the upcoming Google Pixel 6 series launch event.

It seems that Google has also decided to follow Apple’s example on removing the power adapter from the box of its future devices, including the Google Pixel 6. In other words, you may want to pick up the latest Google Pixel 5a 5G in case you want to get a free charging brick with the purchase of your new smartphone.
According to The Verge, the new Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will not have a power adapter in the box. Google has apparently said that the recently announced Pixel 5a 5G will be the last Pixel to include one. The company believes that most people already own a USB-C charging brick, so this means that there’s no need to keep on including them with future devices.
Now, Google isn’t the first Android OEM to remove chargers from the box of its products, as we have already seen Samsung follow Apple’s ‘environmentally friendly decision’ after having mocked their decision. Both Apple and Samsung have also said that most users already own a power adapter, which means that they will have the means to charge their devices. And if you need one, don’t worry, you can still buy one from their online stores.
Suppose we focus on the environmental argument for taking the power adapters out of the box. In that case, we find that this change could help companies to reduce gas emissions caused by the production and shipping of these chargers. We also have to consider that most people look for more powerful third-party alternatives that usually charge devices faster than the option that comes in the box. Yeah, some of these changes also help to bring the price down of future devices, but this changes when you don’t see prices drop, and you don’t necessarily get important upgrades, which is not the case with the new Google Pixel 6 series that is coming with a brand-new design and several new features.
Unfortunately, it’s sad to see so many companies looking to protect the environment by removing the charging bricks from the boxes of their devices when it’s more than clear that this change only helps them to save money. Still, the upcoming Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are getting several new features, a more powerful processor, and more, which means that we may not miss the power adapter in the box after all.

Let’s begin the month of August like we always do, with some deals, starting with this year’s flagships. Amazon currently has the OnePlus 9 Pro for 90 dollars off, leaving the 12 Gigs of RAM variant for 979, I know it’s still pretty crazy even with the added RAM. If you’re not a fan of the 9 Series, the regular OnePlus 8 is available for almost 300 bucks off, leaving the base tier for a cool 400. Since we’re gonna be talking about Pixels today, Woot has the Pixel 4 for half off its original price tag, so you can grab it for 389. Moving on to Sammy’s trade-in deals, if you’re one of the fans that wants the Galaxy Note to stay, you can get the Note 20 Ultra for as low as 600 dollars or the regular Note 20 for 449. The S21 Series is still getting the same treatment where you can get the regular model for 99 bucks, the Plus for 200 or the Ultra for 400, and of course you need an eligible device to trade-in for all of these. Moving back on to Amazon, the M1 Mac mini is getting a 100 dollar discount, so it starts at 799. Finally, Sony’s Mark 4 over the ear headphones are currently available for 72 bucks off, leaving them at 278. We have more deals on other Macs, more Samsung products and more in the links in the description.
And speaking of Macs, let’s move on to Apple and their Apple Silicon roadmap as we’re technically at the halfway point of their 2 year transition which was announced at last year’s WWDC. On Mark Gurman’s latest newsletter he mentions that Apple will barely hit that 2 year timeline they promised, and he’s actually counting as if it started in November with the release on the M1 MacBooks, giving Apple until November of next year to complete it. Gurman mentions that the M1X processors are still on track for release in the coming months, with a high end Mac Mini coming soon after that. If you remember this is the one we got renders for a while back with a more compact design. Moving on to next year, Gurman reiterates that he expects them to fully transition by the end of next year, with a revamped Mac Pro rocking Apple Silicon coming in the second half of the year. He also talks about that redesigned MacBook Air which apparently will bring MagSafe but, he simply states it’ll come some time in 2022. Finally, he also speaks on the final update to the Intel Mac Pro, which is rumored to bring an Intel Ice Lake Xeon processor but we don’t really have a date for that one. So just to recap, new MacBook Pros and a new Mac mini this year, 2 new Mac Pros, the new MacBook Air and the a complete transition into Apple Silicon by the end of next year.. We’ll see if they actually make the deadline with all of the delays going on.
Let’s switch on to Samsung and you guessed it, they’re Unpacked Event. The thing is, over the weekend we’ve gotten a ton of leaks on multiple products so, we’re going to be throwing all of these into this segment so bear with me here. Let’s start off with wearables, we have a new report from WinFuture that claims that the Galaxy Buds 2 will bring an IPX2 certification, up to 20 hours of play time with ANC but more importantly, they’ll be priced at 150 Euros. Now moving on to the Galaxy Watch 4, we have some new IRL images from 91 Mobiles that show off the new Watch 4 Classic. The design looks great as expected but, these also serve as our first “hands on” look of One UI Watch. We can’t see much from these images but, I mean it doesn’t look bad at all. Now moving on to the centerpiece of the event, let’s talk about foldables. Evan Blass is maintaining his title as the king of Unpacked this year as we get yet another batch of press renders of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 from every possible angle and with every color variant we’re expecting so yeah, there’s no secrets here any more. But to conclude, let’s go back to talking price tags! We have a couple of new tweets from a tipster that goes by the name of Snoopy, yes like the dog, where he reveals the price tags for Europe for both the Z Flip and the Z Fold. He claims that the Z Flip 3 will start at 1029 Euros while the maxed out variant will go up to 1109. When it comes to the Z Fold, that one will start at 2009 Euros for 256 Gigs of storage, and will go up to 2099 for the higher tier which brings double the storage. So the Z Flip is definitely getting cheaper but, it looks like the Z Fold is retaining its current price tag, we’ll see what happens next week.
Finally, for the hottest news today, let’s talk about the undisputed king of leaks. We’re looking at you Google. If you thought Samsung was good at leaking their own stuff, Google just gave them the biggest “hold my beer” moment we’ve seen yet. Earlier today the company took to Twitter and gave us a sneak peek at their upcoming Pixels and sort of announced their custom SoC. Starting with the obvious, yes there will be a regular Pixel 6 and a Pro variant this year. When it comes to the design, these confirm the renders we’ve been getting with the new camera module and they come in 3 different colorways for each variant. When it comes to the camera, the 6 Pro will bring a triple camera array that includes a telephoto with 4x optical zoom while the regular 6 will bring the same cameras but with no telephoto. Probably the hottest thing here is the new chip, Google Tensor. Yes, the leaks were right, this is a custom SoC and they’re claiming it can process their most powerful AI and ML models directly on the smartphone. Apparently we’ll be able to see a transformed experience for speech recognition, the camera and many other features. Sadly they can’t show any pictures at the moment, saying they’ll get back to us soon on that one. When it comes to the UI, Material You will be the best it can be on Pixels, as expected. And these new Pixels will also bring a ton of upgrades on Google features like Translation, Voice Commands and others. They concluded by saying that this is all they can share for now and that we’ll get them later this fall.. However, they’re already on the Google Store, showing off the specs but, there’s no price and of course you can’t purchase them yet.
A former bilingual teacher that left the classrooms to join the team of Pocketnow as a news editor and content creator for the Spanish audience. An artist by nature who enjoys video games, guitars, action figures, cooking, painting, drawing and good music.
Of course, the official news today begin with some fresh deals. Starting with Apple’s M1 iPad Pro which is 50 dollars off on Amazon, meaning it starts at 750 bucks for the 11-inch variant. The latest iPad Air is now getting a 60 dollar discount, so you can get it for 539 bucks. If you’re into really expensive headphones for some reason, Cupertino’s AirPods Max are now getting a much needed 72 dollar discount, leaving those at 478 and by the way I think this is their all-time low. If you want True Wireless Earbuds, the Galaxy Buds+ are 10 bucks off, leaving them at 83 in Cosmic Black. If you want a Smart Speaker, Amazon currently has a bundle where you get the latest Echo Dot along with a 4-Pack of Tile Mates for 80 dollars, meaning you save 40 dollars in the process. Finally, the Galaxy S21+ continues to be a great deal at 200 dollars off, leaving it at 799. We have more deals on other iPads, Sony headphones and more, in the links in the description.
Let’s shift focus on to Cupertino for the first time today, particularly when it comes to the upcoming M1X MacBook Pros. We have a new report from Ming Chi Kuo and MacRumors that claim that the new MacBook Pros are getting ready for mass production and will come with new mini-LED displays. The report mentions that, even if the production will run from July through September, Apple might hold a separate event dedicated for these Macs instead of launching them with the new iPhones in September.. Some time around October or November. On a quick, separate note, a tipster named Dylan also claims that the new MacBook Pros will be getting an improved 1080p webcam for the next model. Finally. Moving back to mass production, Kuo’s report claims that due mini-LED shortage issues are what have caused delays so far and might still create more issues whenever they get launched, which means they’ll probably roll out like the M1 iPad Pro did earlier this year where it started shipping much later. These new MacBook Pros are expected to bring some updated Apple Silicon, a ton of ports and that new mini-LED display, let’s see how it goes.
Let’s keep talking Apple and redesigned products but move on to some iPads that I’m really expecting. As yes, along with these MacBook Pros, we’re also expecting Apple to release a redesigned iPad mini 6. We have a new report from Bloomberg and Mark Gurman, he mentions that the new iPad mini is a “go for this fall” suggesting that it could be announced with the new iPhones or on that event that would happen later dedicated for the new MacBook Pros. This new iPad mini is reportedly bringing an 8.4-inch display and according to Jon Prosser, we can expect a flat design like we get with the new iPad Air, though we don’t know if this will be considered a “Pro” variant of the iPad mini, with the leaked color variants claiming we’re only getting Space Grey, Gold and Silver. Prosser mentions that we can expect the A14 powering the show, along with the same Touch ID sensor on the power button we get on the iPad Air and a USB-C port which is very interesting for an iPad mini. So yeah, we can expect these some time in the fall, hopefully with no delays because I’ve been waiting on this one for years.
Moving on, let’s talk about Samsung and their upcoming Galaxy Unpacked. So far we’ve gotten a ton of leaks for this year’s Unpacked where, we’re expecting the new Z Fold 3, Z Flip 3, Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Buds 2. Well, today we’re gonna be focusing on the Z Fold 3 as it just went through a new TENAA certification, confirming most of the leaked specs. According to the listing, the Z Fold 3 will be 6.4mm thick when unfolded, and it’ll have a much improved hinge design, which will actually remove the air gap between both sides of the device, resulting in the thinner device but, the foot print is expected to remain the same as the Z Fold 2 ,which isn’t too bad. When it comes to the display and battery, the listing mentions a 6.2-inch cover display and a 4500 mAh battery, running on Android 11. The certification also confirms that this foldable will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888, 12 Gigs of RAM and it’ll bring a triple camera setup that includes an ultra wide camera with autofocus along with the Under Panel Selfie Camera for the main display. Apparently the Z Flip 3 also went through a TENAA certification but, there was no information listed on any of the specs we just mentioned for the Z Fold. So yeah, these all sound great to me, especially with that leaked lower price tag. Let’s wait for August 11th.
Finally, for the hottest news today.. yes, let’s talk about those Google Pixel 6 leaks from late last week because, why not? Back in May we got our first look at the 6 Series thanks to some renders from Jon Prosser and now, he’s back at it again with a full list of specs. Starting with the regular Pixel 6, it’ll reportedly pack a 6.4-inch AMOLED display, it’ll be powered by Google’s Whitechapel SoC, 8 Gigs of RAM and up to 256 Gigs of storage along with a 4614 mAh battery. On the cameras you can expect a 50MP main sensor along with a 12MP ultra wide. Now, when it comes to the Pixel 6 Pro, this one has a 6.71-inch OLED display, it’ll be powered by the same Whitechapel chip but this one brings a crazy 12 Gigs of RAM, half a terabyte of storage and a 5000 mAh battery. On this camera department you’re getting a triple array, with a 50MP main sensor, a 48MP telephoto and a 12MP ultra wide camera. Both of the models will include 5G, Wi-Fi 6E support and will obviously run Android 12 out of the box. Now, what’s interesting here is that Prosser claims that Google is committed to at least 5 years of software updates for both of this devices which makes all the sense in the world considering this is Google but also because, come on Apple is supporting the iPhone 6s pretty much 6 years later. Now, we don’t know if this means 3 years of real updates and 2 years of security patches so I guess we’ll have to wait until the event actually happens to know the exact details. We’re expecting the Pixel 6 Series to come out some time in October
