Apple’s ‘California Streaming’ event is less than two days away now. The Cupertino giant is ready to announce its next-generation iPhone lineup, the iPhone 13 series, along with a bunch of products at the event. Just ahead of the event, some (more) information about the upcoming Apple products has surfaced.
Bloomberg Details iPhone 13 Lineup Features
Just half a week ago, we learned some of the features of the iPhone 13 series and the Watch Series 7. Max Weinbach, one of the reliable leakers in the space, revealed that iPhone 13 would cost the same as iPhone 12 lineup and some more information about the battery and the camera’s capabilities. Mark Gurman has now revealed more about Apple’s highly-anticipated 2021 iPhone lineup in his Power On newsletter (Via 9to5Mac).
Gurman says these are the things we can “expect” from the lineup:
iPhone 13 series will feature the same design as the iPhone 12 “but with a narrower notch.”
Standard iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini will feature two cameras lenses, while iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max will feature three camera lenses
New camera software features: Video version of Portrait Mode, a new “AI-driven filter system to apply different styles to your photos,” ProRes video recording for the Pro models
A15 Bionic will be a “bit speedier” than A14 Bionic
LTPO (low-temperature polycrystalline oxide) displays for the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, this “likely means a higher-refresh-rate” as well
iPhone 13 series will feature a satellite communication system for “emergency situations.” Read more about what are LEO satellites, and why the iPhone 13 connecting to satellites is a big deal for the world of phones.

Base Variant iPhone 13 to Feature 128GB Storage
In addition to Bloomberg’s report, reliable Apple analyst Ming Chi-Kuo revealed that Apple would (finally) drop 64GB configuration with the iPhone 13 lineup. Kuo says iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini will be available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB variants, whereas the Pro models will be available in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB configurations. iPhone 13 Pro will be the first iPhone model to feature a 1TB storage variant.
Kuo also says that iPhone 13 will be a victim of worldwide silicon shortage. He says, “the legacy models had been cut by about 5–10% in 3Q21. The iPhone 13 shipment in 4Q21 may have a potential downside risk due to component shortage. However, this downside has a limited impact on iPhone 13 shipments. We believe that iPhone 13 shipments in 2021 can grow by more than 10% YoY.”
AirPods 3 to Be Announced at California Streaming Event
Leak-based AirPods 3 renders (Credit: GizmoChina)
Apple will also announce AirPods 3, in addition to iPhone 13 and Apple Watch Series 7, at the California Streaming event on Tuesday, says Kuo. Kuo claims Apple is ready to launch the product in the market. However, AirPods 3 will be expensive than the launch price of AirPods 2, and Apple will continue to sell the current-generation earbuds at a lower price.
He says there could be two situations with AirPods this fall: either Apple will sell AirPods 3 at a higher price and AirPods 2 will continue to sell at a lower price, or AirPods 2 will see a price drop alongside the AirPods 3 release and AirPods 3 will adopt the $159 price of AirPods 2.

Apple Watch Series 7 Production Delays “Not Significant”
(Credit: JonProsser x RendersByIan)
Last week, Bloomberg reported that Apple was facing issues in the production of the Apple Watch Series 7. In a follow-up report, Kuo said that the Watch Series 7 could see “short supply in September.” In yet another ‘investor note,’ Kuo has reported that the “impact on the release schedule and mass shipment schedule is not significant.” If Kuo’s to be believed, we could see Watch 7 debut along with iPhone 13 and AirPods 3 on Tuesday, with wider availability beginning in October.
M1X MacBook Pro to Be Available in “Next Several Weeks”
As a part of his weekly newsletter, Gurman said that Apple’s upcoming 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro with improved M1X processor will “hit shelves in the next several weeks.” He expects 2021 MacBook Pros to be a big upgrade over the current-generation MacBook Pro. They’ll feature “MagSafe magnetic charging, mini LED screens, and no Touch Bars,” along with a faster chipset.
There will be two events, and I’d expect the latter to be Mac + iPad. iPhone/Watch Tuesday. https://t.co/xfAjhUkigC
He says Apple will hold two events this fall — one to announce iPhone 13, AirPods, and Apple Watch, and the second one to announce new MacBooks and iPad. For those unaware, the iPad mini is expected to be getting a big upgrade this year with the removal of the Touch ID Home Button and slimmer bezels.
Apple will be officially unveiling the iPhone 13 series on Tuesday, 14th September 2021. Make sure to follow PocketNow on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, and stay up to date with everything Apple announces at the event.

We are getting closer to the launch of new Apple products, which means that previous generations are about to get even more affordable. Still, no one knows if we will get new MacBook models during the upcoming Apple event, but that doesn’t mean you can’t take advantage of the latest deals on several Apple devices.
For instance, the most powerful 13-inch MacBook Pro is currently getting a $100 discount, which leaves the 256GB storage option with 8GB RAM available for $1,199. However, you will have to settle for the Space Gray model, as the Silver variant is selling for its regular $1,299 price tag. Suppose you really want to get your hands on a 13-inch MacBook Pro in Silver, and you want to save some bucks in the process. Well, in that case, you will have to grab the 512GB option that’s selling for $1,400 after a $99 discount.
The lighter MacBook Air is getting even better savings, as you can grab the Space Gray model with $149 savings, meaning that you can grab one for $850 on its 256GB storage option. However, if you need more storage space, and you have to get the 512GB storage variant, you will have to choose between the Silver and Gold color options if you want to save $150, meaning that you can get any of these two variants for $1,100, while the Space Gray model with 516GB storage goes for $1,149.
The most powerful MacBook yet.
One of the best and lightest laptops in the market.
If you want a more affordable laptop, you can also consider checking out the HP Chromebook x360 14a 2-in1 Laptop that’s currently getting a 19 percent discount, meaning that you can get one for $290 after a $70 discount. This laptop comes with an Intel Pentium Silver N5000 processor, 4GB RAM, and 64GB storage. Plus, its design will allow you to use it as a laptop or as a tablet.

Apple sent out invites for the launch of the next iPhone yesterday. While you’re still on the Apple buzz, and if you can’t seem to contain the excitement, there’s some more good news incoming. DigiTimes has reported that LED shipments for the upcoming MacBook Pro are on track. This means Apple could soon announce a new MacBook Pro with a mini LED display.
While the reports of a mini LED MacBook Pro has been around for a while, it was said that Apple was looking for more mini LED suppliers to suffice the demand. Mini LED was said to be in short supply, even for the recently launched 12.9-inch iPad Pro. The new report claims Apple has been able to sort the supply, and the company is “set to expand its devices featuring this new display.”
Apple is likely to unveil miniLED-backlit MacBook Pro series in October or November 2021, with total shipments in 2021 estimated at nearly 4 million units, the sources said.
DigiTimes says Apple’s suppliers have been pouring in millions of dollars to expand the production capacity of this new display. Suppliers like General Interface Solution, Epistar, and Lextar Electronics are all expanding and making more money as the demand for mini LED displays is growing.
Apple is expected to announce an all-new MacBook Pro this fall. The laptop is said to come with the next-gen M1X chip, along with the 14-inch or 16-inch mini LED display. The M1X chip will be the extension of the current Apple’s custom M1 chip for more advanced and “Pro” users. Along with the chip and display improvements, it is also expected to host more I/O ports including an HDMI port and an SD card reader slot.

Apple just announced that it will be hosting the next Apple Event on September 14, where it’s expected to announce the brand new Apple iPhone 13 series, potentially the new MacBook Pro devices, new and upgraded iPads, the Apple Watch Series 7, and a refreshed version of the AirPods 3.
The event is confirmed by the invitation that has already been sent out to the press, and Greg Joswiak, SVP of Marketing at Apple, has also posted a small video teaser, confirming the event will take place on September 14.
At the Apple Event, the company is expected to announce four new iPhone 13 models, namely the iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, and 13 Pro Max. Apple is also expected to release the Apple Watch Series 7 smartwatch, and the AirPods 3 wireless earbuds, as well as the much-rumored iPad mini with a refreshed design and new display. The upgraded 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro and Mac devices are rumored to launch at a separate event, potentially later this month or in October or November.
The new iPhone 13 series are expected to be available for pre-order from September 17, according to rumors, and are expected to be available in-stores from September 24. The rest of the devices are expected to follow a similar release schedule, although it may differ in certain regions, and it could still change. The price of the new devices may be unchanged, although we heard several rumors that Apple may be forced to increase it ever so slightly due to pressure from the chip shortage that is affecting multiple businesses globally.
Are you excited about the upcoming Apple Event? Which of the new products are you most excited to see at the event on September 14? Let us know in the comments!

Apple applied for a rather unique patent early last year. Some publications made renders of the potential product, which looks to be a new iMac computer with a curved glass design and a built-in mousepad and keyboard.
The patent was granted today, and it seems unique and bold, not something that we’d see Apple do for such an important lineup (via 9to5Mac). The 24-inch iMac has recently received a major upgrade with Apple’s own M1 Silicon, and it has also become available in a number of new colors and a slightly refreshed design. The upcoming 32-inch model will likely feature an even faster chip, and a more bezel-less design, although all of that is just speculation for now.
Patently Apple notes the following:
“Today the US Patent & Trademark Office published an Apple granted patent that relates to a next generation all-in-one (AIO) desktop iMac that is made with a continuous glass body. The design is shown to have a number of twists with alternative ideas including a similar shaped desktop accessory designed for a MacBook.
Apple’s granted patent covers a new vision for a future iMac/desktop PC made with a glass housing that includes a continuous surface defined by the upper portion, the lower portion, and the transition portion.”
Yanko Design has created several high-quality render images and a GIF based on the patent that was just granted to Apple, displaying the rumored iMac with a curved glass design. The images show a seamless and rather large curve that goes on the bottom and onto the flat surface of a desk. The bottom would house the built-in keyboard and a touchpad.

Personally, having a built-in keyboard that cannot be removed or shoved away is a bad design; not everyone likes Apple’s keyboards, and I would certainly prefer to have the option to pick one myself. While Apple is strict about its devices and design, I find this very unlikely to become a real product and recommend a grain of salt. Patents, after all, are just that, vague descriptions of ideas that often never make it.

It seems that we will have to wait a bit longer to see Apple’s Child Safety Features in action. The company has announced that it will delay the rollout of this new feature after tons of negative feedback.
Last month, Apple announced that it would introduce new child safety features that would be coming to iOS 15, iPadOS 15, and macOS Monterrey. These new changes would allow Cupertino to scan users’ photos in the iCloud Library and iMessages to search for any kind of content that may indicate potential child abuse. Now, Apple has explained that these scans would only happen on the device, but that didn’t stop Apple users and security researchers from being concerned.
Since then, Apple has been in the eye of the storm. It has been receiving a lot of backlash from security researchers. And it’s also been confirmed that the company has been scanning iCloud Mail for CSAM content and other data since 2019. “Apple is dedicated to protecting children throughout our ecosystem wherever our products are used, and we continue to support innovation in this space. We have developed robust protections at all levels of our software platform and throughout our supply chain. As part of this commitment, Apple uses image matching technology to help find and report child exploitation. Much like spam filters in email, our systems use electronic signatures to find suspected child exploitation. We validate each match with individual review. Accounts with child exploitation content violate our terms and conditions of service, and any accounts we find with this material will be disabled.”
Now, Apple seems to believe that the best way to go is to put this new feature on hold, as the company has received feedback from customers, non-profit and advocacy groups, researchers, and others. The idea is to give Apple more time to improve how this new feature will work to avoid further issues.
“Last month we announced plans for features intended to help protect children from predators who use communication tools to recruit and exploit them, and limit the spread of Child Sexual Abuse Material. Based on feedback from customers, advocacy groups, researchers and others, we have decided to take additional time over the coming months to collect input and make improvements before releasing these critically important child safety features.”
Now, we will only have to wait and see when this new feature will rollout since it seems that Apple is still decided to include it in future updates of iOS 15, iPadOS 15, watchOS 8, and macOS Monterey.
